What Are Viagra’s Effects on Women?

Question:

I know that Viagra is designed for use by men who are finding it difficult to achieve erection on their own. However, my girlfriend has been complaining lately that sex has lost some of its excitement and sensation for her. I was wondering if Viagra would in any way improve her sexual experience. I’m also curious to know if taking Viagra would have any adverse effects on her health.

  1. ANSWER:

    Hi Amos!

First of all, your girlfriend is unlikely to experience any significant ill effects from taking a Viagra, although she could experience one of the drug’s side effects, such as back pain, dizziness, headache, or an upset stomach. That’s assuming, of course, that she’s in overall good health and is not taking a nitrate-based drug that could interact dangerously with Viagra. However, because the controls for sexual desire are largely based in the brain, Viagra isn’t likely to fire up her libido. What it might do, however, is heighten the sensations she experiences during sexual activity. The primary function of Viagra and drugs like it is to increase blood flow to the genitals, which in your case means that your penis will get enough blood to support and sustain erectile function. The increased blood flow to her genitals, including the nerve endings in her pelvic region, could conceivably make sex more pleasurable for her. I guess the only way to know for sure is to give it a try.
